PurpleTrain powers Thames Valley online

PurpleTrain is providing the platform that will see students of Thames Valley University BSc get a taste of e-learning. Students of its Bachelor of Science (Hons) (Information Science Programme) conducted through Informatics will see e-elements introduced into their course.

Through the Internet Virtual Learning University (IVLU) section of the PurpleTrain website, students will soon be able to access the discussion rooms as well as private e-mails from September.

The discussion rooms will be introduced to enhance the education experiences of the students. While students previously had to wait until the next class to ask questions or discuss topics with classmates, they can now do it round the clock, from anywhere. Learning can now be a 24-hour, 7-day experience ! Students can post questions and expect an answer within 24 hours. The discussion threads will also be made available to all students so that knowledge can be shared and debate encouraged.

" Many people are wary of e-learning as it is an unknown experience. We hope that after this experience, they will embrace this new mode of learning.

By introducing the e-element into their educational experience now, we will be introducing an experience that will help them to embrace lifelong learning. With e-learning, they will face no limits on learning that is often imposed by work schedules, family commitments and distance, " said Mr Raj Singh, Assistant Director of PurpleTrain.
