Online training incentives on PurpleTrain
Singapore-based Informatics Group staff have been given further incentives to
upgrade themselves. Following on the highly successful introduction of the free
IT training courses, Informatics is extending the Employee Education Benefit
Scheme to cover online courses on PurpleTrain.com
" The online IT training courses that we made available to our staff enjoyed a
tremendous response. Many of them seized the opportunity to learn new skills.
Some have heard so much about e-learning and were eager to try it out. It must
have been a very positive experience as some have even come back to ask if they
could do another course. It shows that e-learning works for them. This is also a
very strong endorsement for us as internal staff often tend to the toughest
customers!
" Given the enthusiasm of the staff and the success of the initial scheme, we
have decided to extend it to include the certificate and degree courses on
PurpleTrain," said Dr Wong Tai, Chairman and CEO of PurpleTrain.com
In August, PurpleTrain offered to Informatics employees for free, a series of
publicly available IT training courses. The courses ranged from MS Word and
Access to Advanced C++ and SQL programming.
" We are now opening up all existing courses on PurpleTrain.com. We will
evaluate the addition of new courses to this scheme as they come online on
PurpleTrain.com. Courses in the pipeline include a Bachelor in Business
Administration in Human Resource Management, a Masters of Science in IT and an
MBA programme," added Dr Wong.
Mr Ong Swee Teck, Director, Corporate Development noted : " The rebates we are
offering are extremely generous. This reflects our corporate philosophy of
encouraging our people to continually upgrade themselves. As a leading education
and training provider, we want to set the example by ensuring that all our
employees are given every assistance to upgrade their skills.
" The offering of these courses under the Employee Education Benefit Scheme is
an arrangement that we have worked out for our Singapore employees as part of
our employee benefits package."
Said Jocelyn Chew, HR Senior Executive, PurpleTrain.com : " When we first
introduced our IT training courses to our Singapore staff, many countries asked
to be included in the scheme. We would like to eventually extend this latest
extension of the scheme to our employees in other countries. This will be done
in consultation with the HR in those countries. "
The staff discounts on the courses available on PurpleTrain.com are extremely
generous, ranging from 40 to 68%. Employees will pay for the course up-front,
the amount of rebate that they are entitled to will be refunded at the end of
the course, from the last payment. If a course promotion happens to be on at the
time of registration, staff will be able to choose the lower-cost scheme to take
up. This scheme also covers immediate family members.
