Launch of PurpleTrain.com Malaysia

[Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur] PurpleTrain.com, a leading e-learning service provider, was launched on 23 February in Malaysia by Yang Berhormat Datuk Tan Chai Ho, Deputy Minister of Energy, Communications and Multimedia. With the launch, PurpleTrain.com would bring to the Malaysian public a new mode of learning that would facilitate life-long learning.

As Malaysia heads towards achieving its Vision 2020, of becoming a developed country by the year 2020, it is vital for Malaysia to attain the status of knowledge-based economy or k-economy. Nations of the world now have to work towards transforming themselves into k-economies in order to survive the higher level of intense competition brought about by globalisation. As such competing economies are racing to transform their populations into knowledge societies or k-societies, a society of people who are constantly enriching themselves with knowledge to stay competitive. And inevitably, these people have to embrace the philosophy of life-long learning.

To fuel this pursuit of life-long learning is PurpleTrain.com. Riding on the Internet technology, electronic learning or e-learning is readily available to almost anyone, anywhere, anytime, globally, instantaneously and inexpensively. With the merging of technologies, notably the mobile, broadband and satellite technologies, with the Internet to become the information communication technology or ICT, e-learning will soon be accessible through "any device" like TV and mobile phone. E-learning will soon be the de facto learning mode for the busy working population of the emerging k-economy, who needs the freedom of learning anytime without a fixed schedule and the geographical freedom of learning anywhere, at home, in the office, and while travelling.

PurpleTrain.com is the highly-evolved and extensive e-learning service provider by The Informatics Group. With an expansive global network of 327 centres in 32 countries, PurpleTrain.com is a vehicle that enables Informatics to extend beyond its physical presence into the dynamic cyber world. Having long envisaged the need for e-learning, Informatics had set up PurpleTrain.com in 1999 (previously known as Internet Learning Virtual University or IVLU) to provide total e-learning solutions.

"The many advantages of e-learning provides anytime, anywhere learning, a strong benefit that traditional classroom-based learning does not provide. This is why PurpleTrain.com has already gained a strong foothold in numerous markets internationally, as we now have students from all over the world including countries like Japan, US, Germany, Australia, Eastern Europe, etc," said Dr Wong Tai, CEO and Chairman of PurpleTrain.com

PurpleTrain.com offers a wide portfolio of over 200 online education and training programmes ranging from certificate, diploma, degree and master programmes, in numerous areas including Business Administration, Computer Studies, Computing, E-commerce, Human Resource Management, Information Technology, Marketing, Public Relations and many more. PurpleTrain.com also offers a portfolio of over 150 online skills training courses in Business, Professional Development, IT and Technical Applications, Internet and Web Development, Programming, Professional Certification, E-commerce, Computer and Network Systems.

To meet the increasing demand for corporate training, PurpleTrain offers training and e-learning solutions for organisations. E-learning provides a highly flexible and cost-effective method of training employees, also eradicating problems like minimum training participants and the feat of scheduling training sessions. Employees training progress and performance can also be closely monitored by the organisation through a customised learning management system.

Besides providing e-learning programmes for training and education, PurpleTrain also provides online placement services to over 80 renowned universities worldwide.

Through PurpleTrain's global real-time online chats, students are exposed to experiences of fellow course-mates who are from different socio-economical, cultural, political, technological and geographical backgrounds, all from the comforts of their home. Students can access online course materials anytime and anywhere and discuss freely about the course subjects with online facilitators and course-mates via online chats, discussion rooms and emails. This provides a learner-centred and self-paced learning environment thus leading to higher knowledge retention. Another advantage is that it has a consistent course delivery method, unlike classroom-based courses.

PurpleTrain was first pilot tested in Malaysia in Aug 1999. Through active marketing in the last 6 months, PurpleTrain.com has already enrolled close to 300 students in Malaysia currently.

"The growth and popularity of e-learning is definite. Hence, we must capitalise on this ever-growing market need. We invite you to join forces with PurpleTrain.com to pioneer this e-learning revolution in Malaysia," added Mr Rajinder Singh, Assistant Director of PurpleTrain.com.

With this official launch, PurpleTrain.com will be able to contribute in assisting the Malaysian public in the pursuit of life-long learning, and to bring Malaysia closer towards the vision of transforming into a k-society.
