Hear What Our Board Of Examiners Has To Say On E-Learning!
During their visit to Singapore recently, PurpleTrain.com speaks to The Board of Examiners from the University of Portsmouth on their thoughts on the online programmes, e-Learning and the lion city. They are Anette Wilson, Jonathan Crellin, Cheryl Rodgers, Jenna Avery and Peter.
Extracted below are the gist of the conversation to share with you!
On e-Learning:
Anette: "I think the flexibility, freedom and support that students get when they need it are some of the key benefits of e-learning. I especially like the fact that students can choose the way of studying ~ online, at their own pace. Students can always go back over things and refer to the course notes whenever they are ready."
Peter: "It (e-learning) is a very exciting innovation. It gives freedom and flexibility to the students. It's a powerful tool in reaching out to the people from around the world…
"The quality of the work that they (students) do is absolutely first grade. The growth in student number is superb, from a relatively small number of 25 to almost 1000 now. E-Learning brings education to many people who otherwise would not be possible."
Jenna: "It's a very good idea. To me this programme works out very well especially for the students."
On the Programme:
Anette: "It (BSc in Computing by University of Portsmouth, UK) is an excellent programme. It's superb!"
On the quality of Portsmouth's students:
Cheryl: "The quality of our students is improving every time; quality of works of Informatics is improving every time. And I think that the experience that the students have of having a UK education in another country is a fantastic opportunity….
"Students really enjoy themselves with the programmes. Everyone should be congratulated for that."
On Singapore, the lion city:
Peter: "The city inspires me because of the very high standards, the quality of the service, the very hard work, discipline attitude of the people here. It's a very safe city. I think the people are hard working ….. And the food is magnificent."
Jonathan: "This is the first time I'm here in Singapore. I am very impressed by the beautiful city. It's been a very interesting experience to come to this place. And again, I am very impressed by the way informatics work very hard to run its education system."
Message to the students:
Anette: "Take the opportunity!"
And for those who have not joined the e-community, she says: "Try it. Take the education challenge and you will like it."
Peter: "I would like to say congratulations & well done! You are making good choices."
