The Continuing Education Service of the UC Berkeley Extension is over 100 years old -- it celebrated its centennial in 1991. Because of its strong resources, UC Berkeley Extension is an active leader in innovative professional learning programmes held throughout California, across the US, and in many countries overseas.

Course Development and Approval
Extension's curricula are developed by an academic staff of continuing education specialists in consultation with organizations such as corporations, K-12 schools, international universities, and government agencies. Extension courses are designed to address current needs, respond to emerging trends, and incorporate the latest research, techniques, and practices. All courses offered for credit are reviewed and approved by UC Berkeley.
Expert Instructors
Extension instructors are drawn from the Berkeley campus and other educational institutions, as well as from business, industry, science, engineering, the arts, and the professions. As practitioners in their fields, these instructors bring wide-ranging experience and networking opportunities to Extension students.
Concurrent Enrollment in UC Berkeley Campus Courses
UC Berkeley Extension students may enroll in selected UC Berkeley campus courses without committing to full- or part-time study, in order to earn additional units to complete a degree or simply investigate new careers.
