DEGREE aspirations can be fulfilled via e-Learning
E-Learning has been growing at an astounding rate globally. According to Gartner Group, the market for e-Learning in (Europe) Italy was US$66 million in 2000, while in the same period it was US$185 million in Sweden, US$162 million in Finland and US$147 million in the UK.
Why is e-learning growing so rapidly? E-Learning builds on traditional in-class delivery methods to incorporate technology and connectivity, whether through the Internet or through internal office networks. This makes e-learners highly marketable in the marketplace as they are exposed and proficient in using Internet tools and applications. On top of all that, e-Learning provides a whole host of advantages – anytime, anywhere accessibility, flexibility and total convenience to both learners and Human Resource personnel who need to plan training schedules for their staff. With the addition of the latest technological conveniences such as e-payment, e-libraries, e-news, e-services and so much more around the clock...around the world, at the click of the mouse.
E-Learning is also often used to drive strategic organisational goals. Unlike so much training and education of the past, it is tightly integrated into what the organisation must achieve, not just what individuals feel is good for them. Online training can easily be tailored to meet the specific training needs of each learner, through the use of a Learner Management System (LMS).
In short, e-Learning is becoming as much an enterprise software solution as Customer Relationship Management (CRM) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). Its aim is to transform organisations, not just provide a wider and more flexible palette of training and education options.
Today, 40 per cent of all training and education materials revenue in the UK will be from e-Learning, up from 23 per cent in 1999. Most significant of all, according to TrainingZone/ Hemmings, 85 per cent of UK companies will use some form of e-Learning in 2001.
Worldwide, more and more programmes are now made available via e-learning, as it transcends the geographical proximity barrier. European business schools are starting to follow the US model and adopt e-Learning for their MBA programmes. Last year, Insead (Paris) offered its first online course on e-commerce and wireless technology. In the UK, FT Knowledge has just announced an alliance with Cambridge University to create an e-MBA. And of course, with Informatics, we have launched PurpleTrain.com to provide e-learning as an alternative option to our students training and education globally.
Informatics Group has long since pioneered the e-Learning delivery in Asia, with inroads into America with the recent acquisition of Salem International University offering Online programmes in business and I.T. Through our two e-Learning providers www.purpletrain.com & www.IGCOL.com, Informatics offers customers a vast array of programmes online ranging from skills training programmes, diplomas to MBA programmes, from the UK, US & Australia. In a nutshell, e-Learning gives you the edge you need over the competition!
What better way to promote the Degree aspirations to our clients than through e-Learning!
