International Advisory Panel Formed For Academic Excellence
In its continuous effort to improve academic excellence in Informatics,
an International Advisory Panel (IAP) was recently formed. The IAP is
represented by a group of respected and experienced academic leaders drawn
from universities in the United Kingdom, Australia and the United States
of America.
The IAP panel members bring with them a wide range of educational leadership
and management experience. The main role of the IAP is to advise the management
of Informatics on strategic academic matters. The terms of reference include
advice on academic policies, systems and procedures, curriculum design
and development, teaching, assessment practice and standards and e-learning.
The panel meets collectively at least once a year. Occasionally members
make visits to Informatics HQ in Singapore and/or any of the networks
of Informatics centres located in 33 countries. A panel of eight members
currently represents the IAP. The distinguished list include: Professor
Graham Upton, Vice Chancellor,Oxford Brookes University, UK; Professor
Peter Ford, Deputy Vice Chancellor, University of Nottingham, UK;
Frank Bott, Head Department of Computer Science, University of
Wales, Aberystwyth, UK; Associate Professor Peter Kell, Head of
Department, Industry Professional and Adult Education, RMIT University,
Australia; Professor Tony Whitehouse, Directorate Associate, International
Development, University of Central England, UK; Dr Fred Zook, Interim
President, Salem International University, West Virginia, USA; David
Gleave, Education Consultant, MA University of Cambridge, UK; Dr
Susan Bakaitis, Vice President, Academic Affairs & Provost, Salem
International University, West Virginia, USA; Val Philip Ortega,

Strategic partnerships have been established between Informatics
and universities such as Oxford Brookes University, the University of
Nottingham, University of Central England University, University of Wales,
RMIT University, Salem International University and many others. Academic
quality is jointly administered and closely monitored by both institutions.
Continuous academic quality improvements is the foundation for the success
of the programmes jointly conducted between Informatics and its university

to establish good relationships and understanding with the advisory panel
