She says: “After I completed the Computer Information Systems programme, I interned as a Marketing Engineer in the business development department of Sendmail Inc. My first project involved developing and updating company’s intranet. My course work was very applicable. For example, when I conducted a system analysis, I applied the exact techniques taught to me in class.” Grace recently moved to the United States with her husband, and planed to pursue a career in programming and systems analysis. Barbara Weiss, one the other hand, holds a bachelor’s degree in International business management from the University of San Francisco. Before enrolling in UC Berkeley Extension’s Diploma programme in E-Commerce Business and Technology, she worked as a Marketing and Public Relations Manager at Visa International in the U.S. and Germany. She was also a freelance Marketing Project Manager. “I was interested in the E-Commerce Diploma programme because I felt that whatever the business, industry, or job function, a background in e-business and a better understanding of Internet technologies would enhance my ability to make effective management decisions and add value to any company. And on the project management side, it would help me to better communicate with the IT department. The programme I attended was a great help. It gave me a good overview of the technical side and to integrate new skills learned into my work routine. The knowledge will serve me well in future marketing work and in helping a company to implement Internet Solutions,” Barbara happily shares her experience with UC Berkeley Extension.
