Informatics wins Prestigious Enterprise Award 2001

PurpleTrain's holding company, Informatics Holdings Ltd ("Informatics"), an international provider of quality lifelong learning services, has won the prestigious Enterprise Award 2001 organised by The Business Times and DHL Worldwide Express.

The Enterprise Award, one of three to be given at The Singapore Business Awards 2001, was decided by a panel of judges drawn from the business sector, official agencies and academia. This Award was launched in 1986 to give recognition to local enterprises which have shown a record of:

  • innovation;
  • entrepreneurial skills;
  • growth and financial performance.

Dr Wong Tai, Founder and Chairman of Informatics, gave a tribute to various parties who have contributed to Informatics' success: "I am delighted with this win. To our corporate customers and students, we thank you for your support, and want to assure you that we are committed to deliver up-to-date training programmes, e-learning solutions and best services to you.

To our shareholders, I say a big thank you for their unwavering support in good and bad times. We have worked very hard to improve shareholder value over the years. Since our listing in 1993, our return on equity has increased to over 37% in FY2001.

To my colleagues, your shared vision and dedication in maintaining an entrepreneurial culture within a professional organisation, has helped to fuel Informatics' global thrust. And to all our staff ? this Award belongs to you. Your innovative spirit, commitment and hard work have paid off.

To our partners and associates, this Award will not be possible without your continuing support and faith in our business and our team.

We would also like to thank the various government agencies such as TDB, EDB, PSB and IDA. You have helped us at various stages of our corporate life and we wish to applaud you for your courage in supporting our vision, especially when we were still a fledging local company."

Dr Wong also commented that this Award has provided Informatics with the impetus to pursue its global vision and an affirmation that the Group is moving in the right direction in building a global business that's based out of Singapore.

This Award has given recognition to Informatics' continuous efforts to build a global brand name. The Group has grown from strength to strength, expanding rapidly from one centre when it was established in 1983, to an international provider of quality lifelong learning services with over 400 centres in 36 countries spanning across Asia Pacific, Africa, Middle East, Europe and the US.

Since listing, the Group's revenue has grown more than four times and its market capitalisation has jumped nine-fold. With its current market capitalisation of S$400 million, Informatics is now ranked alongside blue chip companies on Asiamoney's elite list of "Top 20 Overall Best-Managed Singapore Companies".

The Group's strong growth prospects, impressive management and innovative products and services have also been recognised by the renowned Forbes Global magazine. Informatics was repeatedly named as one of "Best Small Companies In The World" by Forbes Global.

In September last year, Informatics was named the "Most Transparent Company " by the Securities Investors Association of Singapore under the"Services/ Utilities/ Agriculture" Category. The Group was recognised by the community at large for its timeliness, substance, clarity and transparency of news releases as well as the timeliness of its corporate results announcements, management accessibility by media and the availability of detailed segmental information.
