With the launch
of the newly improved version of Advanced Diploma in Computer Studies
on PurpleTrain.com, you can now customise your education!
|
Finding difficulty completing certain subjects in the current structure?
Frustrated at having to take certain subjects because there is no other
option? PurpleTrain.com recognizes that the student population is not
purely homogeneous and that no two students needs are identical.
The Advanced
Diploma in Computer Studies (ADCS) has been an extremely popular
programme since its launch in both modes of learning offered by Informatics
classroom as well as e-Learning via PurpleTrain.com.
This year, to further enhance the programmes attractiveness, students
are now offered a choice to either graduate with a general ADCS qualification,
or with a major in either Computer Studies or Web Technology.
In this new ADCS 21 course, students will be required to complete only
9 core modules instead of 10:
- CS211 Systems Analysis & Design
- CS212 Computer Architecture & Data Communication
- CS213 Software Engineering
- CS214 Java Applications Programming
- CS218 Discrete Mathematics
- CS219 Information Management
- DB212 Database Design & Management
- CS261 Networks & The Internet
- CS220 Project: Systems Development
Previously, students only had the Computer Science elective where they
had no choice but to do the three allocated subjects. Now, they have the
flexibility to choose their major by taking any 4 modules from the following
subject groups to complete their Advanced Diploma:
| Computer Science |
Web Technology |
· CS 215 'C' Programming
· JP 219 Advanced Java Programming
· CS 262 Computer Security
· CS 260 Advanced Networking
|
· CS 258 Interactive Multimedia
· CS 259 World Wide Web Fundamentals
· CS 263 Human Computer Interaction
· CS 264 Electronic Business
|
Students must complete a total of 13 subjects in order to graduate from
the course. These 13 subjects consist of the 9 core subjects and 4 to
be chosen from the two subject groups.
To graduate with a major, students need to take at least 3 modules from
a subject. The remaining 1 module can be taken in the other subject group
or within the major itself. Students who wish to graduate with a general
ADCS qualification may still do so by taking any 2 modules from each of
the subject groups (i.e. 2 modules from Computer Science and 2 modules
from Web Technology).
New students who have signed up since 01 July 03 have been automatically
enrolled on this new structure. However, if you are a student taking Year
Two subjects under ADCS2000, you will be given the choice to continue
either with ADCS2000 or take up the new structure of ADCS21.
Students can rest assured that both ADCS2000 and ADCS21 are equivalent
qualifications awarded by NCC and UCLES. Existing students who wish to
make the conversion are required to write an email to opns@purpletrain.com
by 1 December 2003. Requests for conversion after this date will be considered
on a case by case basis.
Wait no longer - customise your learning package to match your interests
and achieve your desired qualification now!
