Top UK Nursing
School to Partner with PurpleTrain.com to Nurse Depleted Global
Supply of Nurses Back to Health
|
The shortage of healthcare workers has always been a constant topic
of discussion but became a sudden highlighted area of concern firstly
during the September 11th attack and more recently, the SARS occurrence.
The internationally recognized ratio of doctor to nurse to be 1:2.5
(for every two doctors, a hospital needs 5 nurses); the American
Hospital Association reveals that more than one million new nurses
will be needed by the year 2010 globally. 75% of all hospital personnel
vacancies today are for nurses. This has resulted in the demand
for quality nurses to increase phenomenally in countries, including
but not limited to, such as Singapore, the Philippines, Hong Kong,
China and Malaysia.
In anticipation of meeting this demand for post-diploma academic
qualifications in the field of Nursing, PurpleTrain.com is proud
to announce the launch of its Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Applied
Nursing Sciences degree programme awarded by Northumbria University,
UK.
- "Nursing from Northumbria ranked 3rd in
the UK"
Times Good University Guide, 2003
- "Northumbria Nursing school emerges as the best teaching
department for nursing in the country"
The Guardian
To
further illustrate the point, Hong Kong was home to a total of over
32,000 Registered and Enrolled Nurses, holders of practicing certificates
issued by the Nursing Council of Hong Kong. However, only 26% of
them qualifications above the Certificates (qualifications include
those of Bachelor's degrees, Postgraduate Diplomas, Master's and
Doctoral degrees in related Nursing fields).
The course, fully taught via e-Learning through PurpleTrain.com,
is aimed at fulfilling the needs of current nurses who will appreciate
the benefits of a flexibility study schedule. Designed to integrate
the academic disciplines that contribute to nursing, this programme
allows learners to critically evaluate their relevance to practice.
Learners will also study theories of innovation and change and decision
making to analyse the changing structure of health care and the
role of nursing within a multi-disciplinary environment.
Learners can look forward to degree completion in approximately
one year at exceedingly affordable prices. Fully developed to cater
to the busy schedules of full-time nurses who juggle both work responsibilities
and family commitments, assessments will be graded on a continuous
basis rather than examination-focused. The course will also be facilitated
by Faculty and Healthcare professionals.
