The MBA that
has YOU in mind - New pass mark for University of Wales Master
of Business Administration programme
|
E-Learning through Virtual School PurpleTrain.com presents a level
learning playing field, irregardless of nationality or social and
income backgrounds. As long as you are a lifelong learner desiring
to upgrade your educational qualifications, whether for career advancement
or for purposes of self-actualization, you can now choose from a
myriad of courses from PurpleTrain.com and learn at your own time
and pace.
The
Master
of Business Administration degree programme, validated and awarded
by University of Wales, is designed for executives who wish to gain
a working understanding of the latest thinking in the principles
of management to enable them to become effective business managers.
The
programme has received encouraging feedback since its first intake
in September 2001. The close supervision students received from
their e-facilitators has enabled every cohort to experience good
pass rates of between 80% and 100%.
The Wales MBA is designed to empower students with a superb grounding
on a mix of specific and broad range of business oriented subjects
directly applicable to today's knowledge-based economy. Learners
can look forward to completing the programme between 2 and 5 years.
In keeping with the tight monitoring of the programme by University
of Wales and regular reviews with PurpleTrain.com, several improvements
have been made. PurpleTrain.com wishes to announce that the pass
mark has recently been revised from 50% to 40%. Both the coursework
and the written examination must possess a pass mark of 40% in order
to achieve a pass in the respective module. (The passing mark of
40% applies to new students who register from January 2004 onwards.)
Students will be glad to note that the new threshold of passing
is to align the assessment criteria with the normative practice
of UK universities. Thus there is no compromise on the academic
standard and quality of the course.
Besides, Open Book Assessments will be conducted for the following
two modules:
- BA 606 Operations Management
- BA 609 Corporate Strategy and Business Policy
This is to allow students to apply the concepts covered instead
of expending time and effort on rote memories.
To further enhance the flexibility of the programme, learners,
who for some reasons are not able to complete the MBA, can still
be eligible for 2 points of exit qualifications. This depends on
the number of credit points they have achieved:
- Graduate Certificate - upon the completion of 60 credits, not
including the dissertation module
- Graduate Diploma - upon the completion of 120 credits (all 9
taught modules)
With these credit points, they will be able to seek credit exemptions
when they decide to enroll for another MBA programme with other
universities.
The programme is made more attractive to busy professionals through
its mode of delivery. Delivered fully online in an interactive e-Learning
environment through PurpleTrain.com, it advocates students' participation,
contribution and interaction among peers from different countries
while giving total flexibility, convenience and control to the learners.
