"We may be from different backgrounds, different countries, different races and religions, and have different reasons for taking up this course, but we all had one common motivational factor - the quest for self-actualization, and the hunger for a degree. It is this common goal that has bonded us, despite the geographical barriers that separate us. We could not have done it without the support of our friends and family. I’d like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to our facilitators, our families and friends who stuck by us and motivated us, the University of Portsmouth and of course, PurpleTrain.com, without which we wouldn’t be able to be where we are today."

Chiew Vee Tian,
Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Computing
University of Portsmouth

"E-Learning allows me to arrange my commitments around my study time and vice versa. I wasn't used to it in the beginning but now the only challenge I face is self-discipline! Working and studying at the same time is not easy but the facilitator and my fellow e-Learners have been extremely helpful.I am also able to apply what I've learnt in my classes to my work. This is a great study experience! If there wasn't the e-Learning option I would not take up the course!"

Ellice Gan,
Master of Business Administration by the University of Wales

"When employers see you pursuing your educational qualifications through the e-Learning method, they see you as a person who is responsible and focused. Being able to apply what I learn in class in my job is a real asset. All this without having to compromise on my other commitments too! E-Learning through PurpleTrain.com is a comfortable way to gain a prestigious education and become more marketable. I recommend it to all who want to move up the corporate ladder!"

Demar Anderson,
Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Computing by the University of Portsmouth

"I came to SIU as an PurpleTrain.com student, so my credits transferred directly to the university. That makes it very fast and easy for me to get my degree. They also offered me a University Fellowship to help with expenses. I love it here, too. The natural environment in West Virginia is great. Plus, the students are all involved in so many different things: you see someone from the soccer team who also plays music, or a biology major who likes to paint. They are very busy, but always seem to have time for other things. It's a place to learn very good work habits."

I do not adhere to the conventional 9-5 job that most people have and I am away from Singapore most of the time. The time flexibility offered (e.g no scheduled class to attend) and the availability of course notes and all relevant information (e.g discussion sessions chat file) allow me to follow the course at any time of the day and wherever I am.

Jessica Chin,
Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management

Studying with PurpleTrain.com allows me flexibility in time management and adjust my own study pace. My favourite aspect of e-Learning is the discussion forums and chat sessions in which I can ask all sorts of question without worrying that I may sound silly. I can also get help from other course mates who are more experienced in IT and familiar with the modules. PurpleTrain has made learning very natural to me. I need not be conscious that I was taking a diploma course. It just becomes an interest activity as part of my life. For those who want freedom and hate to drag themselves to class after work, e-Learning is definitely a better choice. Thats because you wouldn't have to miss lessons anymore! No more struggling to split yourself between maintaining relationship with loved ones and friends, and achieving your passion to keep up with the changing world…

Janet Lo,
Advanced Diploma in Computer Studies

E-learning requires a lot of discipline. You have really to make yourself sit in front of the computer and do your work 'cause there won't be anyone pushing you. But in that way you learn more than those people from classrooms. The convenience of flexibility is very important to me. (Though I rush like crazy before my exams and assignments due!)

Adelin Tan,
Advanced Diploma in Computer Studies

In fact, I started off with the normal course session, which is going to the class every week attending the class for 3 hours. When I got to know about e-Learning, I converted my course to do my course via PurpleTrain.com. If it wasn't for e-Learning, I would have probably drop out from the class, due to time constrain. E-learning saves my time from traveling and also I can manage my time with more flexibility. I can do my studies as and when I like, and also with the discussion forum in place, I can raise my questions at any point of the time. The thing I like most is the time saving for travelling to and from the classes.

Shirley Lim,
Higher Diploma in Business Administration

"It is probably incorrect to say that e-learning is not as good as distance learning because both student modes actually cater for different groups of people!" said Mr. Eden Wong Chi Wai, a current PurpleTrain.com's student of BSc (Hons) Computing, University of Portsmouth who just enrolled on 21 Feb 2003.

Previously enrolled in a distance-learning programme with an Australian University, Eden decided to switch to e-Learning! "There·s no doubt you would receive lots of face-to-face interaction in distance learning programmes, but if you see yourself as an independent learner, you would definitely go for e-Learning!" Eden added.

When asked why he chose PurpleTrain.com, Eden said, "The main reason is that the price is reasonable for a 2 years programme! And the other reason is that I always wanted to study computing since young even though I undertook Business Administration major in University. Now I have grown up but I must not give up my career and PurpleTrain.com is the perfect fit to make my dream of obtaining a higher education come true."·

When asked how he is feeling so far, Eden said, "I am relatively new to PurpleTrain.com but I am impressed with the quality services. I like the course materials too as they are detailed but easy-to-understand. I am sure it would be even more impressive with more technological developments in the future!"

"Hi,

Thank you for your prompt support and response whenever I am faced with difficulty during my pursue of the Higher Diploma in Business Administration (HDBA). It was a motivation for me to complete the whole course.

May I also take this opportunity to express my appreciation to the following facilitators and lecturers who have helped me in my studies:

Dr Desti
Mr Silvester Chan
Mr Arthur Soh
Mrs Gandhi
Mr Richard Loh

I am grateful to each of them for their patience, guidance & empathy to the difficulties faced by adult students like myself who are least prepared for exams. They are definitely a great source of motivation that spur me to further pursue the Advanced Diploma in Business Administration (ADBA) by PurpleTrain.com"

"Well, I just wanted to say thanks to what you did for us. This is my first online experience and it went great. Starting from your lecture notes and the message boards and every other knowledge that you provided us with, that also includes your classes, it was really a unique sort of learning experience. My final paper of IT354 module was also a very good one. Thanks again. Have a nice day."

" ......Belonging to the very first batch of this prestigious mode of learning is a great honour for me. The greatest benefit of this mode of learning is that it is very flexible i.e. you can study at you own time and place. Even if the chat session was missed, the summary is always present. Another benefit is the global reach of different students belonging to different backgrounds studying to together at one platform i.e. No Geographical boundaries. The service and support offered by PurpleTrain management improved term by term. Personally I think this mode of learning is best suited to people who have commitments (i.e. working people) that do not allow them to study as full time students.

Overall I feel it was a very good experience learning through this new mode of learning which is yet to mature. "

Haroon Durrani.

" ......It gives me great pleasure to among the first cyber campus graduates, introducing a new and successful trend in learning.

My experience though bumpy in the beginning, proved to be extremely worthwhile and informative as it progressed. I had never learned so much in he first two years of my degree as I did in the last year. The incessant help of the facilitators was par excellence! Their prompt replies to queries and providing complete and comprehensive notes all added up to our success in the end. It taught me how to study on my own at my pace, yet gave me direction at where I should be in covering the course with regard to time.

I would encourage everyone to gain some benefit from this new direction in education and be a part of the cyber campus experience!."
